About Carol Flagg
My interest in art started by watching my father paint as a commercial artist. He would often take me along on an assignment and I was captivated by his expertise and the way he seemed to disappear in his work. The smell of turpentine meant Dad to me. As a child, art was my favorite subject.
A career in the business world and being a mother left little time for exploring my art, but I did fulfill my creative side by practicing and teaching yoga, sailing, crafts, sewing, reading and gardening.
The creation of a painting is a form of meditation for me. I lose the sense of time as I paint. I love the process of creating form and color that is appealing to me. I am a very organized individual and get uncomfortable with chaos. I find my paintings reflect this attitude even when I set out to be more spontaneous and fluid. I enjoy the fluidity, transparency, and color purity of watercolor and hope to allow the medium to help me along to become more spontaneous in my painting and in the world.
Watercolor painting is helping me to really see what I did not see. I hope that others will find a sense of tranquility in my work.
